2016 Geneva Motor Show: Tata Tiago

    Tata Motors has brought the Indian bound Tiago hatchback to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It is said that the car will be launched in India sometime in the second half of 2016, but it will hit the Indian market before it reaches the European markets.

    Originally named as the Zica, the upcoming Tiago hatchback is based on a new design platform that will ditch the outdated Indica hatchback in their compact hatchback lineup. Tiago will be positioned between Nano and Bolt in Tata’s lineup. Tata also showcased the new Tiago at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo.

    Tata TiagoThe model showcased at the motor show gets all the bells and whistles like steering mounted controls, connectivity options, ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, sporty alloy wheels, decals, roof mounted contrast colored spoiler and beefier bumpers.

    Tata TiagoAs per mechanics, it will be offered in two versions – the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and 1.0-litre Revotorq diesel engine. The petrol engine is good for 85PS of power at 6000 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500rpm while the three-cylinder mill is capable of developing 70PS at 4000rpm along with 140Nm of torque between 1800 to 3000rpm. Both the variants will be paired to a five-speed manual transmission, but there are possibilities to get an AMT option lately. We can expect the new Tiago to sit in the price range between Rs. 3.5 lakh and Rs. 5.5 lakh. It will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10.
