Apple just unveiled the long-awaited iPhone SE at its special spring event today. The new iPhone is named as iPhone SE and it includes a 4-inch display with the same dimensions, just like the iPhone 5s. In terms of design, the new iPhone looks identical in all aspects to the iPhone 5s, but the only difference is that those edges will have matte finish, instead.

The iPhone, however, comes with improvised innards than the iPhone 5s. The device is powered by the latest generation Apple S9 chip with a dual-core 1.85 GHz Twister processor and PowerVR GT7600 six-core graphics. The new smaller iPhone will include an NFC chip for Apple Pay and the phone’s speed will be on par with the iPhone 6s. It is also equipped with always-on “Hey Siri” functionality.

Camera-wise, the iPhone SE comes with modest upgrades, with a 12-megapixel iSight camera and the ability to capture 4K video. It comes with Live Photos support and Apple’s GIF-style feature as well. That’s said, the GIF feature facilitates capturing a couple seconds of video before and after the photo is taken, resulting in a moving video.

Apple has also included a LED flash at the front on the SE, so your selfies will be better as taken with iPhone 6s.  As we already reported, the new iPhone SE will not see the 3D Touch functionality, which is available on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The new small phone ships with the new iOS 9.3 version that was out today. It comes with Night Mode, which automatically adjusts the coloring and brightness of the display to better suit your eyes. It will also include password-protected (TouchID) Notes, app suggestions in Health, and more customized News. CarPlay has also gotten integration from many more carmakers.

As for pricing, the SE will be available in two models, 16GB and 64GB, priced at $399 and $499 respectively. The new iPhone will go on sale on March 31, and will be in 100 countries by May. If you’re using the iPhone Upgrade program, pricing starts at $17/month in the US. Pre-orders for the phone starts on March 24 and it will be available in four color options – Rose Gold, Space Grey, Silver, and Gold.
