Apples Tim Cook to host a fundraiser for House Speaker Paul Ryan

Apple CEO Tim Cook will be hosting a fundraiser for House Speaker Paul Ryan next week. Apple is strengthening corporate ties with the Republican leaders, as the matter of fact that Apple publicly distances itself from GOP over the imminent party nomination of Donald Trump.

Cook will help generate cash for Ryan at a private breakfast on June 28 in Menlo Park, Calif., along with Gary Wipfler, the company’s treasurer, according to an invite obtained by Politico. Cook is organizing the fundraiser on his own accord, as Apple doesn’t have a political action committee like other Silicon Valley giants.

Apple decision to pull its support for the GOP’s convention taking place next month in Cleveland came after Trump’s incendiary remarks about women, immigrants, and minorities. The company has in the past donated cash and technology to both party conventions. Trump has not commented on Apple’s convention decision, where other tech giants Facebook and Google have said that they will provide support to the GOP’s convention this year. Trump has taken repeated shots at Apple and Cook, even calling for a boycott of the company’s products over its stance on encryption.
