Asus Launches Zenfone Zoom with 13MP Camera and 3X Optical Zoom in India

Asus has launched the Zenfone Zoom smartphone in India that was earlier available only in the company’s homegrown of Taiwan. With the launch, the company brings the “world’s thinnest phone with 3x optical zoom” to India at an aggressive price tag of Rs. 37,999 (roughly $560). You can purchase the smartphone on Flipkart right now and the phone will be made available through Asus’s exclusive stores starting next month.

“Photography has become extremely important for today’s smartphone users,” Jerry Shen, CEO, Asus said in an emailed statement. “Consumers want to capture every precious moment of their lives on their smartphone cameras, and also be able to perform multiple tasks with the same device. With ZenFone Zoom, we are introducing an unbeatable smartphone that complements today’s lifestyles and puts professional photography within the reach of everyone.”

The company also offers a bundle package along with the phone, the ZenFlash and a portable tripod at Rs. 39,999 (roughly $590), which is yet to hit the market. The phone made its debut at last year’s CES and is now hitting the global market, which is up for pre-orders in the US, and will starting shipping next month.

As far specs, the phone boasts 13-megapixels on the back, the highlight of the phone, with the 10-elemnet lens with optical stabilization up to four stops. With its laser auto-technology, the phone captures images in just 0.03 seconds. The camera can capture images with resolution up to 52 megapixels. Other specs include a 64-bit Z3950 Intel Super Quad-core processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, microSD extension up to 128GB, 3000mAh battery and packs in all standard connectivity options. The handset is available in White and Black colors.
