The 2017 Maruthi Suzuki Swift has been showcased at the ongoing Geneva Motor show, making its European debut while the fourth generation International spec hatchback was already launched in Japan recently. The all-new 2017 Swift is expected to arrive in Indian shores sometime in the first half of 2018.
The new Swift has got a complete overhaul in design as well as features that is not restricted to exterior, but also the inside cabin gets some makeover than the current outgoing model. It is based on the new HEARTECT platform which is 15% lighter than Baleno, weighing only 840kgs, but rigid and gets more spacious than the predecessor.

The new Swift gets complete design overhaul, including new hexagonal honeycomb grille, newly designed swept-back project headlamps wrapped around the edge with LED Daytime Running Lights, sculpted bumper, larger air intake and redesigned fog housing. On the sides, it looks similar to the old ones, with rear door handle moved up to the C-pillar that gives a funky appearance.
It gets a redesigned wrapped around LED tail lamps, beefed rear bumper, sloping roofline, wraparound windscreen, turn indicators on wing mirrors, newly designed diamond cut alloy wheels, S logo moved to the top of the grille and blackened A and B pillars.
The new Swift gets a new steering wheel with mounted controls, redesigned dashboard and instrument cluster, revised HVAC controls, upgraded AC system, improved switches, large touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Bluetooth support, voice recognition, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility. The dual airbags will come as standard across all the trims.
2017 Maruthi Suzuki Swift Engine Specifications
The 2017 international spec Swift will get a 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.3-litre multijey diesel engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine along with the existing engines offered in currently outgoing models.
As far as India is concerned, the 2017 Swift is likely to get a 1.2-liter K-series engine that is goos for 83hp at peak 6000rpm and 115Nm at peak 4000rpm. The 1.3-litre diesel DDiS engine will produce 74hp at 4000rpm and 190Nm at 2000rpm. Both will be offered in manual as well as AMT transmission. Both have been tuned to provide better performance and fuel economy with the petrol variant expected to return 21kmpl and diesel variant to return 26kmpl.
2017 Maruthi Suzuki Swift Price
The new 2017 Swift is likely to get a higher price tag with the base petrol variant priced at Rs. 5.5 lakh and the top variant at Rs. 7.5 lakh. On the other hand, the base diesel variant is expected to get a price tag of Rs. 6.9 lakh and the top variant for Rs. 8. lakh.
