We already knew that Mahindra is about to launch Peugeot’s range of scooters in India sometime in 2016 and adhering to its stance, Mahindra has showcased three Peugeot scooter line-up at the ongoing Auto Expo in Delhi. Of those, two are 125cc scooters – Django and Speedfight and the Metropolis on three wheels.
The retro styled Django (above image) is an entry level scooter from the maker, but the scooter is likely similar to the popular Vespa range in terms of looks and cues. Upon launch, the Django will take on the likes of Vespa and it has a simple elegant design. The Django is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine that develops 10bhp clubbed through a CVT transmission.
The aggressive and sporty Speedfight is one of the best selling scooters in Peugeot’s line-up. The scooter boasts a sharp front and edge cues with the two-tone paint scheme. Powering the Speedfight is the 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, mated to a CVT transmission.
The Metropolis is the most discussed three-wheeler urban scooter in the Peugeot line-up, which is powered by a 400cc liquid-cooling engine that is good for 36bhp. The electronic fuel injection is mated to a CVT automatic transmission. It’s a scooter, though, the two wheels in the front offers the stability of the four-wheeler.
There’s no word on when the Peugeot range of scooters will be launched in India, however, it is said that these scooters will go on sale later this year.
