Kawasaki India has imported a single unit of its retro-styled cruiser, the Kawasaki Estrella aka Kawasaki BJ250 to India for R&D purposes. Contrary, the Japanese manufacturer doesn’t have an R&D facility in the country, so it must be for its Indian ally – Bajaj.
Just to recall, Bajaj has already said that it is going to enter the higher end segment and the new import raises hopes of the possible launch of the motorcycle in India. However, there’s no official confirmation from Kawasaki India supporting the claim. The Kawasaki Estrella, however, looks similar to Royal Enfield Electra in terms of design and appeal; it is powered by a 49cc single-cylinder engine with fuel injection that produces 17.1bhp of power at 7500rpm and 18Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The bike comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox
The BJ250 was imported in India via CBU route that bids a whopping figure of Rs. 4,02,353. . However, if they have plans to launch the bike in India, the pricing of the cruiser must be competitive as the domestic top range bikes from Royal Enfield are cost efficient when compared to the Bj250. More details about the bike and its launch remain a mystery, but hopefully, we’ll manage to grab details about the bike in the coming days. Stay tuned!
