Mercedes GLS

German luxurious car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz will be bringing its premium SUV GLS to India on the 18th of May. The Indian spec Mercedes-Benz GLS, essentially a facelift of its top of the line SUVs, has been tweaked slightly in terms of design and features adding an aggressive stance to the SUV.

The company is yet to reveal the prices of the SUV though, we expect the new Mercedes-Benz GLS to carry a price tag between 80 lakh and 1.5 crore. Mercedes has already started the production of the GLS350d at their Chakan plant.

The exterior portfolio of the new GLS has been subjected to some changes, including but not limited to the large bonnet with Mercedes logo at the centre embedded on the new twin silver slats. There’s a pair of multi-beam headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The front bumper was tweaked to sport larger air intakes with a massive chrome slat.

On the rear, you’ll find a pair of newly designed tail lights along with rear bumper. Mercedes is best known for its safety features and this one is not an exception too. It includes collision prevention assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, Pre-Safe, Brake Assist, cruise control, ESP and electronic AWD traction system with 4ETS.

Under the hood, the new Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to come with four engine flavors. First of is the GLS550 4Matic that will be powered by a massive V3 bi-turbo engine churning out 443bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. Next is the GLS450 4Matic with a 3.0-liter V6 bi-turbo engine that pushes out 362bhp and 760Nm of torque. Then comes the GLS350d 4Matic with V6 bi-turbo engine producing 252bhp and 617Nm of torque. Last, but not the least, the most powerful top of the line GLS63 pushing out 569bhp and 760nm of torque. Expect GLS63, all other models are configured with 9-speed automatic transmission.
