KTM has finally revealed the 2017 model year of the new Duke 250 in short of making the global debut of the 2017 KTM Duke 390 at 2016 EICMA. The KTM Duke 250 is on sale in South East Asian markets and the naked racer has been launched at the respective nations as well.
Sadly, the new KTM Duke 250 will not make its way to the Indian market. Instead of Duke 250, we have Duke 200 which is the downsized version of the Duke 250. The new Duyke 250 retains the same powertrain of 249cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected petrol engine that comes with Nikasil coating for the cylinder head. With 31bhp of maximum power and 24Nm of peak torque, the power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
The bike has an inverted front fork from WP and a new swingarm design, an entirely new exhaust system and a state-of-the-art dual channel Bosch ABS with radially mounted four-piston caliper and 300mm front disc.
As far as design is concerned, it follows the same design language of the 2017 Duke motorcycles, however it misses out some features of the 2017 Duke 390 like LED headlights, TFT display and the Ride by Wire throttle system. The instrument cluster gets a LCD unit.
The new Duke 250 is designed to meet the stringent Euro-4 emission norms as it is specially made for South East Asian markets. Braking power comes through 300 mm front disc with 4-piston caliper along with 230 mm rear disc with 2-piston caliper from ByBre. Dual channel 9M Bosch ABS system is standard fitment on the 2017 KTM Duke 250. KTM hasn’t revealed the prices of the new Duke 250 yet.
