KTM entered India in 2012 through its sporty rugged Duke and later announced the RC 390 in 2014. However, these bikes never have seen major changes in design and other features since their launch. We now have good news for the supersport-inspired folks; KTM will launch the next generation models with aggressive engines with massive cosmetic changes by 2017.
KTM has unveiled 2016 RC 390 supersport at the 2015EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. The notable changes made were the new single side exhaust muffler, ride-by-wire throttle and an ABS system which can be turned off. The exhaust muffler was added to the new edition in order to meet the stringent Euro 4 emission norms.
However, the Indian spec 2016 KTM RC 390 will retain the current exhaust as it meets the emission norms of the country. Other than that, Indian edition will receive the entire features that were added to the 2016 KTM RC 390.Additonal to the slipper clutch that was added recently to the Indian model, it gets an adjustable brakes system for the larger front discs and clutch levers.
Powering the RC 390 is the liquid-cooled 373cc mill that churns out 43PS of peak power at 9,000rpm and 35Nm of maximum torque at 7,000rpm.
Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM said that the new generation models will be based on a completely new engine portfolio and there will be an aggressive design change in the motorcycles. We can also expect the newer model to feature the recently announced cornering ABS.
KTM will first introduce the new generation with the RC series, the new generation Dukes will follow.
