Auto Expo 2016: Volkswagen has unveiled the premium SUV, the Tiguan at the 2016 Auto Expo. The seven-seater luxury SUV made its official debut at the Frankfurt show last year, and the Indian spec Tiguan will be launched in India sometime in 2017.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan is based on the latest MWB platform that ditches 50kgs than the current version. The new SUV is also larger than the current outing that’s 70mm longer, 30.5mm wider, and 76mm longer in wheelbase.
The global variant is powered by a 2-litre diesel engine that develops 148bhp, however, the powertrain for the Indian spec hasn’t revealed yet. The new Volkswagen Tiguan comes loaded with plenty of technologies and features, including an eight-inch touchscreen entertainment system, three-zone automatic AC, seven airbags, 4MOTION all-wheel drive, and a panoramic sunroof. As far safety, the SUV boasts Front Assist City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, Lane Assist, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to carry a price tag between Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 lakh and will take on the likes of new Ford Endeavour, new Toyota Fortuner, and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
