Volkswagen has unveiled a sub-compact sedan, the Ameo, specially designed for the Indian market. With this new sedan, the German car manufacturer enters the competitive segment in the country.
The compact sedan is just four meters in length and is based on the company’s popular hatchback Polo sharing some of its key features and design cues.
The Ameo is one of the four new launches the company has planned in the next 15 months. The car will be made available for purchase sometime in July, however, the new Ameo will be showcased at the Volkswagen’s pavilion for public viewing.
The new Ameo is inspired from the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan, which is likely identical to the two models in terms of design and mechanics. On the front, the car shares some styling of the Polo, but it gets new headlamps, large air intakes, horizontal fog lamps, and noticeable chrome detailing. At the rear, the car barrows design pattern from Vento though, it gets new tail lamps and boot.
Coming to the interior profile, the car comes with the company’s signature styling and premium upholstery. The Ameo is loaded with best-in-class features like ain sensing wipers, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror link and I-pod connectivity, “Climatronic” automatic AC, cooled glove box, multi-functional steering wheel, and electronically controlled ORVM.
In terms of safety, the car packs in features like ABS, and dual airbags as standard across all variants along with optional rear view camera with parking sensor, lane change indicator, electronic anti-theft immobilizer and defogger. Also, the driver seat is adjustable and gets an armrest as well.
