Earlier, it was reported that the telecom major – Coolpad has plans to invest in smartphone lineup in India next year. In an event announcing the ‘Black Edition’ of Coolpad Note 3, the company revealed that they will make a huge investment in India next year, to manufacture one million ‘Made in India’ smartphones in the first half of FY16.
The smartphones will be produced by their ally Videocon at their facility located in Maharashtra.
Briefing the company plans, Guo Deying, Chairman and Former CEO of Coolpad Group said, “In October, we announced an investment of over $300 million in Manufacturing, R&D and ID design in India. Keeping up with our commitment of Make in India, we are proud to announce that we will initiate the first phase of our investment by manufacturing one million Coolpad “Made in India” smartphones by the first half of 2016. “
Coming to the launch of the Coolpad Note 3 -Black Edition, which will be hitting the stores starting today, priced at Rs. 8,999, the Note 3 has 5.5-inch HD display, 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek SoC, 3GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Cool UI 6.0 on top.
The device houses standard connectivity option alongside 3000mAh battery. It sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera with CMOS image sensor on both cams.
