Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX visited Pentagon to meet Secretary of Defense Ash Carter earlier this week. And, CNN buzzed over his mysterious visit, as usual, Musk gave a funny reply via a tweet, “Something about a flying metal suit…”  Ironically, he loves Iron Man comparison, as does everyone else.

But Pentagon clearly states in its description of the visit were to talk about innovation, a weird word buzzing in at Silicon Valley. “The secretary knows very well the rules and regulations required, and how to keep those issues separate and apart and transparent,” press secretary Peter Cook told reporters on Monday.

“The secretary, as you know, has been reaching out to a number of members of the technology community to get their ideas, their feedback, find out what’s going on in the world of innovation,” said Cook. “To make sure that … the Department of Defense remains on the cutting edge, but beyond that, I know he’s just looking forward to having a conversation on innovation.”

Carter has been keen in connecting government and the private technology companies and he has been bridging a gap between the tech endeavors and the government.  Musk has been actively competing for military contracts. SpaceX won a contract worth $87.2 million from the US Air Force to launch a GPS satellite in May 2018. So while it was only an Iron Man joke, but both Tony Stark and Elon Musk are definitely terrific genii with boundless curiosity and enthusiasm.
