In a bid to take on Apple iPhones, Google is in the works of new in-house smartphones that are expected to debut in October. Google previously partnered with phone makers to manufacture Nexus devices and the company is going to ditch its Nexus brand in favor of its new brand of smartphones – Pixel.
Pixel brand isn’t new to Google which already sells Pixel range of laptops worldwide and is reportedly said to be Pixel and Pixel XL. These both devices of sizes 5-inch and 5.5-inch are expected to launch on October 4.
HTC is said to have to make these smartphones codenamed Sailfish and Marlin and also we can expect a 4K version of Chromecast to be unveiled on October 4.

Similar to Nexus phones, the larger pixel phone is expected to have metal chassis with an aluminum unibody and the smaller trim should come with metal chassis with premium plastic body.
The sudden ditch of Nexus brand is to show the world that Google is very much particular about branding. The search giant already having the Pixel lineup products and that it is extending the pixel line to smartphones as well. Google likes to have a unique branding across a range of products.
Both Pixel devices will support Google’s DayDream VR platform that will functionalities similar to Lenovo Phab 2 Pro – the first Google Tango smartphone. You’ll be able to experience the power of virtual reality (VR) through these devices.
If Google is successful in positioning its new brand Pixel range of products, it would give a tough completion to Apple as well as other companies like Samsung, Huawei which is also working On VR smartphones.
