WordPress has recently released an update tagged WordPress 4.6. WordPress is one of the most used CMS platforms with over 70% of the hosted websites on the internet use WordPress.
This update is the second release of the year 2016 that brings major improvements, new features and several bug fixes. If you’re not a managed WordPress hosting, then you’ll have to update it manually, so don’t forget to create a complete backup before initiating the update.
The WordPress 4.6 is called as “Pepper” that is named after jazz baritone saxophonist Park Frederick “Pepper” Adams III.
What’s new in WordPress 4.6?
Days are gone of page reloading. If you’re a fan of Jetpack WordPress plugin, then you’re already used to this new feature. From now onwards, you’ll stay on the same page while you update, install, and delete plugins and themes.
Previously, the page will reload when you perform any one of the options. And, it’s no more!
Native System Fonts
WordPress 4.6 will now use your native font that you already have for the admin panel. WordPress will now load faster than ever letting you feel like your home on all devices and platform.
Before the update, WordPress was using Open Sans font for the admin panel on cross platforms and devices that has to comprise a little on performance and speed.
Inline Link Checker
Users may end adding wrong URL or broken URL in a post. With WordPress 4.6, it is not possible anymore. It will check for the URLs if it identifies a broken link, then it will highlight it in the editor.
The 4.6 comes with faster recovery option. WordPress will save your content to the browser as you type and recovery is as easy from the browser and autosave.
Improved Import Screen
WordPress 4.6 allows you to import content from Blogger, Tumblr, and other platforms. The update makes the import screen more appealing and accessible.
These are the notable improvements and new features in the WordPress 4.6 update. I’m very much excited about the new features such as inline link checker and streamlined updates. Which features do you like the most? Write it down in comments below!
