Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi who was again admitted to Kauvery hospital in Chennai last Friday, will be discharged on Friday, December 23, according to hospital sources.
The 92-year-old leader suffered throat and lung infection last week and rushed to the hospital and it seems he has now completely recovered from illness. This was the second time, the senior politician had been admitted to hospital, who was suffering from lung infection for past few weeks.
In a press release statement release today, Kauvery hospital has said, “DMK President Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi is recovering well at Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet Chennai. He will be discharged from the hospital after completion of course of antibiotics.”
His grandson Dhayanidhi Alagri confirmed that Kalaignar Karunanidhi will be discharged on Friday, December 23 in a tweet.
DMK party cadres and supporters were happy and celebrating by bursting crackers and distributing sweets to public on hearing that their leader is hail and healthy. Previously, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin has asked his party members not to visit hospital to see him. The party even cancelled the General Council meeting that was scheduled on December 20 in Chennai citing his health condition.
