Late J Jayalalithaa, honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu died on December 5, 2016 at 11:30 PM at Apollo Hospitals,Chennai. Despite world class treatment given to her, she passed away leaving behind several thousands of AIADMK cadres and people of Tamil Nadu in sadness.
The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on December 22, 2016 and after 75-days long battle in the hospitals, she left her last breath yesterday. Her body had been kept at Rajaji Hall for public mourning. Entire Tamil Nadu mourns the death of an extraordinary woman, who was also called ‘Iron Lady’.
Several thousands of people have gathered at Rajaji Hall to pay their last respect to the powerful lady, the Tamil Nadu Politics ever seen. Her funeral will happen today at Marina beach, next to MGR’s memorial. Authorities are making arrangemens at MGR’s memorial for Jayalalithaa’s funeral.
The state government declared seven-day mourning starting today. All schools, colleges and educational institutions will remain closed for three days while private and government establishments were declared one day holiday.
Jayalalithaa’s funeral will happen at 4:30 pm today with full state respect. National flag will be flown half-mast for seven days in Tamil Nadu. Both houses of parliament mourn for the demise of Jayalalithaa and suspended the rest of the day.
