Chinna Amma Sasikala to be AIADMK’s New General Secretary

After J Jayalalithaa death, there was a lot of confusion and conspiracy over the leadership of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and the first cabinet meeting held today chaired by O. Panneerselvam cleared the air about the new General Secretary of AIADMK party. VK Sasikala will be selected as the new General Secretary (leader) of AIADMK today.

Earlier, several senior party leaders, including Ministers, MLAs, have extended their support to VK Sasikala to lead the party on the path shown by Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. It was speculated ‘Chinna Amma’, newly emerged heir of ‘Amma’ Jayalalithaa took over the control of party. VK Sasikala and her large extended Mannargudi family are going to decide the future of Tamil Nadu.

‘Chinna Amma’ Sasikala held several with back to back meetings with Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and the senior cabinet members at ‘Veda Nilayam’, residence of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, and discussed about who is going to be the new General secretary of AIADMK. Bureaucrats, Senior Ministers, and top police officials were seen in Poes Garden as well.

The entire party members unanimously voted for ‘Chinna Amma’ Sasikala to be the next General Secretary of AIADMK. One of the loyalist of Sasikala poster banners that says, “Yesterday MGR left Amma as an asset and today Amma has left Chinna Amma as an asset [for the party].”

Senior leaders have said, “Newly elected Chinna Amma Sasikala was the only companion to Jayalalithaa and lived with her till her last breath. She is the legal political heir of Amma, and that’s why we call her ‘Chinna Amma’. None other than Maanbumigu Chinaa Amma would be appropriate to hold the position of what Amma left.”

According to sources, Sasikala will be contesting at RK Nagar which is now vacant because of demise of Jayalalithaa. Once she became the MLA, then there are high chances for her to take over as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. She is backed by several Ministers and MLAs.

Bharat Ratna Dr. MGR founded the party in 1972, and after his death in 1987, Jayalalithaa is declared as political heir of MGR and took charge of the party in 1989, and now after her death in 2016, Sasikala Natarajan will take over the party leadership and run the party under the footsteps of Jayalalithaa.

We can expect the official confirmation about Sasikala taking charge of the party and its functionaries in a couple of days, presumably Monday.
