Mercedes-Benz has launched a new luxury S-Class sedan, the S400 in India, priced at Rs. 1.28 crore (ex-showroom-Delhi). This is the third vehicle launched this year among the 12 expected launches for this year.  The company has been expanding its S-Class lineup in the country while it has been position aggressively between the S350 and S500 trims.

Mercedes-Benz S400The S400 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine tuned to produce 333hp of power and 480Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the 7-speed G-Tronic automatic transmission. Inside, the car has been furnished with all the bells and whistles, including the air balance package, seat memory function, chauffeur package, customizable interior upholstery as well as rear seat tables.

Mercedes-Benz S400The dashboard gets Merc’s COMAND infotainment system along with 10-inch screen mounted at the back of the front seats and a digital instrument cluster while the cabin also gets seven different ambient lighting appropriate for the passengers’ mood. All four seats are equipped with luxurious 16-way massagers and there are a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and a 1540-watt Burmester sound system for acoustic needs.

The S400 will be locally assembled at the Chakan facility and it will be available only in petrol version, but there is no word on when the hybrid version would be introduced in the country.
