Netflix’s first ever original series ‘Houses Of Cards’ now available in India

Netflix, the most popular streaming service in the Western made its way to India back in January. The first ever original drama series made by Netflix, is now available for viewing in the country, Netflix India announced via Twitter on Friday.

House of Cards is an American political drama web television series developed and produced by Beau Willimon. It is an adaptation of the BBC’s mini-series of the same name and is based on the novel by Michael Dobbs. Set in modern day Washington, D.C., the series stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in lead roles as Frank and Claire Underwood. The series deals primarily with themes of ruthless pragmatism, manipulation, and power.

The first season premiered back in February 2013 on the streaming service received positive acclaims from critics, which made the streaming service popular in quick time. Unlike traditional TV series, Netflix releases all episodes of a season at a same time which satisfied viewers urge to binge watch culture around the season. Meanwhile, the fourth season of the series has aired in America on 4th of March and Netflix renewed House of Cards for a fifth season, to premiere in 2017. It was also announced that Willimon would step down as showrunner following the fourth season.
