Skype introduces translator tool for Windows

    Skype announced that it has developed the Skype Translator tool for Windows desktop that automatically translates voice and text in real-time. The popular video calling and messaging service had previously launched the service for the mobile platform and now it brings to the desktop platform as well.

    Microsoft announced in a blog post that the Windows app of the service offers voice-to-voice translation in seven languages: Chinese Mandarin, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. For users who prefer texting, the app supports 50 languages including Hindi and Urdu.

    Skype  translator tool for WindowsThe ultimate goal of the app is to break the language barrier between people and allowing them to interact with people in nook and corner of the world, even if they’re not well-versed in that language. The company said that French to English language pair has seen a tremendous increase in usage and the number of calls per day has increased 400 percent since its launch.

    Currently, the feature is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating system. The service is only available on the Windows platform, but hopefully, the company might soon bring the service to all platforms.
