Alcatel Idol 4S will be up for preorder on July 15th

Besides high-end smartphone makers ruling the Western states, the affordable smartphone makers have been enjoying their limelight in the US for some time now. Alcatel has announced that its latest Idol 4S flagship will be available for preorder in the US starting 8 a.m. PT on July 15 at a price tag of $350 and its price will go up to $400 when it hits stores in August. The phone will be even available via installment payment option that lets you shell $37 per month.

The phone was originally announced at Mobile World Congress back in February, which packs a handful of accessories, including a virtual reality headset, protective Incipio case, and tempered glass screen protector. The beauty of the handset is its package that comes with a plastic container that has segments for VR goggles and accessories. The VR headset looks similar to Samsung Gear VR, except that part that it has touch controls on the bottom instead of the right ends.

Alcatel Idol 4SThe Idol 4S packs some premium specs for the offered price. It has a quad-HD resolution 5.5-inch AMOLED display, and a 16-megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture lens and 4K video capabilities. The Idol 4S is one of the first phones to launch with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 processor, and it has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also has dual SIM card slots, SD card support, and a fingerprint scanner on the back.

At this sub $400 category, the Idol 4S will have to take in ZTE’s Axon 7 and the OnePlus 3. Both the Axon 7 and OnePlus 3 are powered by Snapdragon 820 processors, so we’ve have to wait and see will Idol 4S’s Snapdragon 652 will make pace.

The Idol 4S also packs dual JBL-certified speakers that can pump out sound through the back and the front of the phone, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. With so many goodies inside the Idol 4S, the handset is quite a good bargain that lets you experience the world of VR at an affordable price.
