Amazon has updated its returns policy on electronic items including but not limited to tablets, laptops, PCs, cameras, accessories and making a purchase of these products will no longer eligible for a refund, only a replacement. The policy says if you have ordered any items that belong to these categories after May 11 will not be eligible for a refund; even it reaches you in damaged state. However, this new update will only apply to products fulfilled by Amazon but you can deal with other sellers based on your convenience.
Amazon’s returns page says, “All tablets, laptops, desktops, monitors, cameras, and camera lenses that are fulfilled by Amazon and purchased on or after 11th May 2016 are eligible for a replacement only policy and will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged product, you will be eligible for a free replacement.”
Consumers have to contact Amazon within 10 days of receiving the product if you no longer need the product or received a damaged product. Amazon recently updated its return policy for mobile phones saying damaged or defective phones would only be replaced rather than refunded.
Other e-commerce companies like Flipkart is also following the same for some products. But Snapdeal isn’t the one in the list as you can return your item for a refund if the product received is damaged. It is considered safer for them to makeover strict return policy as some shoppers are taking advantage of no-questions return policy.
