Huawei has finally taken the wraps off its flagship smartphones – the Huawei P9, at an event in London, after creating buildup lasting several weeks. The company also announced the Huawei P9 Plus alongside the P9 that was previously rumored as P9 Max.
The Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD display offering a pixel density of 423ppi. The device is powered by the company’s homegrown chipset – the Kirin 955 that has eight cores – four Cortex-A72 clusters and four Cortex-A53 clusters, clocked at 2.5GHz. The phone will be offered in two variants based on memory and speed – one is equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the other comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
Now, coming to the significant feature of the phone – the camera – that has a dual camera setup. Lending the camera tech from German optics Leica, the rear of the phone sports two 12-megapixel camera units with f/2.2 aperture. The combined cameras offer more detailed shots in good light as well as reduce noise in low light.
There are two LED flashes supporting the camera in dark as well. The entire body of the phone is aluminum, especially the camera strip on back is black, thus giving a luxurious feel to the phone. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and it includes a USB Type-C port for charging it. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear profile of the phone.
Huawei P9 Plus
The Huawei P9 Plus has a larger screen which measures 5.5-inches in diagonal, resolution is 1080p and it’s a Super AMOLED screen with support for 3D touch pressure sensitivity, just similar to Apple 3D touch. The phone boasts the same specifications of the P9, except the battery that bumps to 3400mAh and Dual-IC Rapid Charge is rated to deliver 6 hours of talk time for a 10-minute charge, according to Huawei.
The P9 Plus, however, gets stereo speakers that automatically adjust their output depending on the phone’s orientation. Just putting it in a simple way, when you held your P9 Plus in portrait, the bottom speaker spills bass while the top speaker takes care of the treble.
The Huawei P9 is priced at £449 ( roughly INR 42,300) and the P9 Plus sets you £549 (roughly INR 52,000). Both the phones will be available starting April 16 in 29 countries in the Middle East and Europe in the first wave in n Ceramic White, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and Titanium Grey color variants.
