Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel

Indians continues to troll Snapchat after the company’s CEO Evan Spiegel made controversial and arrogant remarks on expanding the business to “poor counties” like India. Indian hackers have now leaked 1.7 million users data of the social media app, which they hacked last year.

The anonymous hackers said that they found a bug in Snapchat last year, but never misused the data, but ‘arrogance’ remarks of Snapchat CEO made them to leak the data on darknet. The data is now available on darknet, however, Snapchat have not reported any successful leak or hack yet. Indian hackers are well acclaimed Bug Bounty hunters in the world.

After Evan Spiegel ‘s remarks about India circulated on the internet, the app saw a huge hit with Indians started negative campaigning of the app and hastags like #UninstallSnapchat and #BoycottSnapchat started trending on Twitter. The social media app rating dropped to ‘one star’ from ‘five stars’ on Google Play and App store.

A former employee of Snapchat had claimed that Evan Spiegel had said in 2015 that this app isn’t meant for poor countries like India and spain, Variety quoted. Following the massive outrage online , the company has fired the person who made the claim “for poor performance” three weeks ago.

“This is ridiculous. Obviously, Snapchat is for everyone! It’s available worldwide to download for free. Those words were written by a disgruntled former employee. We are grateful for our Snapchat community in India and around the world,” an international spokesperson of the photo-sharing app said in a statement.

Snapchat, though, has not huge users’ base in India like Facebook or WhatsApp, the company had claimed to have around 4 million active users. With the immense outrage against the app broke out online last week, it has been made serious damage to the app, even the non-users rating the app with poor ratings on App Store. People started to troll the company as well as the app on social media.
