Meizu has launched their second smartphone running Ubuntu operating system, dubbed Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition. The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition was the first device from the company to have Ubuntu operating system made its global debut last year and that we now have a successor, which is the premium Ubuntu phone till date. Canonical claims that Meizu Pro 5 is the fifth device running Ubuntu launched in the past twelve months.
The Ubuntu version of Pro 5 is likely similar to its Android sibling in terms of design as well as specifications. The device features a 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED touchscreen, 21-megapixels with phase detection autofocus on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, dual-SIM slots and a 3,050mAh battery. The device is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC clocked at 2.1GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Meizu hasn’t revealed the pricing details yet, but the handset is expected to go up for pre-orders at the MWC next week.
