A Reddit user has reported that Google.com is a partially dangerous website. Well, Google’s safe browsing site status checker tool itself list google.com as a partially dangerous website, as it warns some website hosted on Google Groups may contain malicious malware.
The safety checker says, “some pages on this website redirect visitors to dangerous [ones] that install malware on visitors’ computers.” The malware might steal your personal and financial info, which is very unsafe. Apparently, the tool flags the website as unsafe, because of some of the user generated malicious content in services hosted by Google.
At the bottom of the Safety checker, it says, “Don’t panic. Users sometimes post bad content on websites that are normally safe. Safe Browsing will update the safety status once the webmaster has cleaned up the bad content.”
It lists two websites hosted on the Google Groups have potentially malicious content, however, on checking them individually on the tool, says they are safe. It seems that the safety checker isn’t working properly as it even states Tumblr as a partially dangerous website.
It’s best to be cautious even if the tool says that the website that you’re visiting is safe. You can investigate more inconsistencies and embarrassments for yourself, using the security diagnostic tool known as Site Checker.
