The best-known photo –video sharing app Instagram has received a big update of all time to its mobile apps as well as the Web. The brand now has got a new logo and design across its apps and will be available on both Android and iOS starting from today. The new look of the app should have already landed on your mobile as an update, and if not, you’ll receive it soon.
“The Instagram community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more — a global community of interests sharing more than 80 million photos and videos every day. Our updated look reflects how vibrant and diverse your storytelling has become,” Instagram said in a blog post.
The Instagram app received a new colorful rainbow themed icon with a blend of purple to pink to orange and yellow that stick to the company’s traditional rainbow style cue. Additionally, the other three apps from Instagram – Layout, Boomerang, and Hyperlapse have also received the same treatment.
Instagram has switched back to a simple UI, just black and white theme that you won’t see after updating your app, as it has to be rolled out on the server side, which is a staged rollout. The background of the app is white with black fonts and the icons at the bottom navigation bar are now smaller than they used to be.
The company points out that the new look is supposed to put “more focus on your photos and videos.” Instagram also added, “Thank you for giving this community its life and color. You make Instagram a place to discover the wonder of the world. Every photo and video — from the littlest things to the most epic — open a window for people to broaden their experiences and connect in new ways.”
The company says 80 million photos and videos are shared through its network every single day, and this updated look “reflects how vibrant and diverse” the “storytelling” on the service has become.
