LG has officially announced that its flagship G5 smartphone will hit the United States in early April. The company hasn’t revealed a firm release date though we assume that it could be April 8 because the modular G5 is landing in both Canada and the UK on that date. The smartphone will be available through major carriers and retailers in the United States, including AT&T, Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile Stores, B&H, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon.
Aside the platform-shifting modular G5, the line-up of its friends will be launched along with the phone or shortly after the G5. The companion modules, however, will include the VR headset, the Camera Plus and LG’s new 360-degree camera in the first round. Bang and Olufsen’s audio modular accessory still has a few kinks that need ironing out, so it will be out later. Just plugging these accessories in the G5 will transform it into a DSLR style camera, or a mobile virtual reality viewer.
And, the Rolling Bot announced at the MWC earlier this year, will make its way for consumer usage later this year – because LG needs some more time to perfect the cat-annoying pal.
