Whenever Google releases new updates for Android, users of Google devices like Nexus and Pixel will be the first to experience it followed by big names like Samsung, HTC, Sony and others. As things are getting heated up on the latest Android 4.1 Nougat release, finally the Chinese OEM Xiaomi opened its mouth about the Android Nougat 7.0 update.
While its rivals are far ahead testing the beta version of Android 7.1 for flagships, Xiaomi has said it will be pushing Android 7.0 update to its smartphones in the coming weeks. As per official confirmation, Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi Max, Mi 4S and Mi 4C will be the first in line devices to get the Android Nougat update.
Xiaomi MIUI Operations Manager revealed the beta testing of Nougat v7.0 is underway and the top end lineup will be receiving the update once the beta testing is completed. The Android v7.0 Nougat will be released as MIUI 9. There is no official confirmation on when MIUI 9 will be hitting other devices.
Other Xiaomi devices that are capable to receive the update are: Xiaomi Mi 5, Redmi Note 3, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 3A, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi Pad 2, and Mi 4i.
There’s no word on the exact date for the Android N 7.0 roll out which will be a staged roll out. But, it is likely to happen in January 2017 with 2016 flagship devices to get the update prior followed by Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi Max, Mi 4S and Mi 4C.
