Yu has finally launched the most anticipated smartphone in India, the Yunicorn. It’s more of a mid-range smartphone in terms of its innards. The full metal clad 5.5-inch smartphone features a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass on the front. The display resolution is 1080p and there’s a fingerprint sensor down the screen, in fact, resides on the home button.
The Yunicorn is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio P10 chipset mated to 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. You’ll get a microSD card slot as well for additional memory that adds up to 128GB using a microSD card. You’ve got a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. It comes bundled with Social Cloud feature for managing photos and videos. The device is powered by a 4000mAh battery that can last up to 4 days on a single charge.
On the software side, it comes with a new interface called Android on Steroids (AOS), which is likely a stock Android Lollipop with a bunch of add-ons on top. The Around YU 2.0 is an aggregate of apps that allows you to order food, shop online, book hotes and flights, consult with doctor through video calls and more. It also includes YU Wallet that lets you pay for various services.
The Yu Yunicorn will be available in silver, gold and graphite and it will retail for Rs. 12,999 ($192). It will be available exclusively on Flipkart with registrations for the phone starts kicking off today, and it goes on sale on June 7.
