Anil Ambani-led led Reliance Group on Tuesday launched UNLIMIT, an autonomous unit supported by Reliance Group, which will provide Internet of Things (IoT) services.
“The outlook for IoT services in India is virtually UNLIMITed. They key to unlocking the real potential of IoT is to be focused and dedicated — it is this business opportunity that we are targeting with UNLIMIT,” Amitabh Jhujhunwala, GMD, Reliance Group, said in a statement.
Reliance Group, including its mobile network, has partnered with Cisco Jasper for the launch of this venture. With this, Reliance becomes the first telco in India to have an independent IoT unit.
Reliance Communication’s mobile networks and cloud services alongwith Cisco Jasper ‘s IoT connectivity management platform aim to provide a fill suite of solutions for smart city initiatives throughout India, a statement said.
“IoT is a critical enabler for India’s growth. We are delighted to partner with Cisco Jasper to strengthen the market position of UNLIMIT significantly,” Juergen Hase, CEO, UNLIMIT, said at the launch.
The new IoT services aim to enable business transformation for companies in India and also play a key role in the Digital India project.
Companies using the Cisco Jasper platform outside of India can expand their connected services into India on Reliance’s network. “UNLIMIT makes it simple for companies to deliver connected services throughoit India,” the statement said.
