We have experienced to live video feature before and the latest to jump into the fast-crowding live video space is the social network Tumblr. A teaser for the new platform has been making rounds over this past weekend, and a page livevideo.tumblr.com is up featuring a programming schedule and a launch date of June 21 at 4.45 PM EST.
There isn’t any detail about the new platform or how it will be, right now, bit it’s a bit of mystery how it is going to shape up in the future. We already have Facebook’s Live, Twitter’s Periscope, Amazon-owned Twitch and several live video platforms out there, and it would be a big deal for the social network to compete in the space.
Yep, Tumblr is adding live video. Let the games begin! https://t.co/bM6LyplYrk

The launch is scheduled to start with a live stream from Mars. NASA’s Spirit and Opportunity exploration rovers and the Curiosity Science Laboratory are on Mars at the moment.
The New York-based social network, which is backed by Yahoo, is a great destination for all sorts of things from blogs to streamlined websites since 2007. As of January 2016, Tumblr has about 555 million monthly visitors and hosts more than 300 million blogs.
