Xiaomi Mi Max

Xiaomi on Tuesday unveiled the new Mi Max smartphone at an event in China alongside the launch of its new MIUI 8 ROM. It is the one many have been waiting for, especially those wanting for a larger screen at an affordable price. It has a massive screen, a 6.44-inch 1080p display, the first smartphone from the Chinese house to have a huge screen.

The smartphone packs a unibody metal design with minimal bezels measuring 7.5mm thick. The smartphone comes with three choices to pick from depending on RAM and processor capacity. The top of the line comes with a Snapdragon 652 chipset that has 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. The next variant boasts the same processor but offers 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. The least model packs in a Snapdragon 650 processor and has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

Xiaomi Mi Max

The Xiaomi Mi Max sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel front camera also on board with 85-degree wide-angle view and a f/2.0 aperture.

The Xiaomi Mi Max runs the new MIUI 8 ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the back as well.

The handset will be in available in Silver, Gold, and Light Grey and will go on sale on from May 17. The 128GB model costs CNY 2,000 ($300/Rs. 20,500), the 64GB model will cost CNY 1700 ($260/Rs. 17,000) and the 32GB model will set you back for CNY 1500 ($230/Rs. 15,000).

There’s no word on when these models will be available outside China, but they will cost higher than the aforementioned prices, indeed.
