Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 3 smartphone in India, the first country to get the phone outside of China. The phone is priced at Rs. 9,999 ($148) for the 16GB model and Rs. 11,999 ($178) for the 32GB model. The Redmi Note 3 was launched back in November, the company’s first smartphone to feature a fingerprint sensor and a full-metal body.

The Redmi Note 3 for India runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 SoC, which is claimed to be the first phone in India running this chip. Also, it’s a ‘Make in India’ product, and the third from the company to be manufactured in India. The device will be offered in two variants – 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB of RAM and inbuilt storage. Both are powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz and two Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz).

Other specifications of the phone remain the same, including a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 16-megapixels on the back with f2.0 aperture and phase detect autofocus, 5-megapixels at the front, and a 4,500mAh battery. The handset runs Android 5.1 Lollipop based MIUI 7 and includes connectivity options like 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, Glonass, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB.

The Redmi Note 3 will be available starting March 9 at 2 PM on Amazon and mi.com and will hit Flipkart and Snapdeal at a later date. The phone will be available in silver, gold, and gray.
