Xiaomi has announced the successor of its Yi Action Camera – Yi 4K Action Camera. By the name, you might have predicted that it can now shoot 4K resolution videos. Yes, you’re right; the upgraded camera is now capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps as well as full-HD videos at 120fps and HD at 240fps.
Coming to specification, the Yi 4K Action Camera features a 12MP Sony IMX377 sensor which has a 1/2.3-inch sensor size, 7P lens with f/2.8 aperture and 155-degree angle of view. The six-axis gyroscope enables the electronic image stabilization. The Yi 4K comes with a 2.19-inch display on the rear side with Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
The Yi 4K has dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for smartphone connectivity. Under the hood, you’ll get an Ambarella A9SE Soc for image processing with support for H.264 codec. There are separate apps for video and image editing. The camera offers time-lapse video shoot in 4K at 0.5/1/2/5/10/30/60 second intervals. It is backed by a 1400mAh battery that allows you to shoot continuous 4K videos. There’s a microSD card for storage and dual microphone for recording sound.
The Yi 4K Action Camera has been priced at CNY 1,199 (approx. Rs. 12,500) and will be available in black, white and pink colors. The camera also comes bundled with a Bluetooth remote and selfie stick that will set you back at an additional CNY 100. The camera is now up for preorders via crowd funding in China which will begin dispatching in June, according to sources.
