Xiaomi has updated it’s Redmi 3 lineup with a new launch that features the Redmi 3S moniker and packs some exciting hardware components inside, but it still bears that competitive pricing point. Meizu has recently updated its lineup with a new variant called Meizu M3S. This new variant – Redmi 3S will be available in China starting Thursday in two variants via its Mi.com online store. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed any info about the global availability of the new phone.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S retains the same 5-inch, 720p display, packed together inside the same chassis as its sibling. The added advantage over its sibling is that it equips a fingerprint reader on the back panel. The processing unit gets an update as well, an octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.1GHz along with an Adreno 505 graphics.
In terms of camera, you’ll get a 13MP rear unit with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. On the front, there’s a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. The handset also equips an expandable microSD slot too for additional memory. It is still powered by the same 4100mAh battery and includes usual connectivity options like 4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, GLONASS, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB. It measures 139.3×69.6×8.5mm and weighs in at144 grams, which will be available in Grey, Silver, and Gold colors.
Lastly, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S will be offered in two variants – the base 2GB Ram plus 16GB of internal storage will cost you at CNY 699 ($106), and the slightly upgraded variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage will set you back by CNY 899 ($136). These models will cost a bit extra when they reach international markets.
