YamahaYZF-R3 slams its rivals in the Indian Motorcycle of the year (IMOTY) contest and titled as the IMOTY for 2016. The Japanese sports bike was claimed as the winner of the prestigious award by the jury of acclaimed senior Indian motoring journalists.

The contestants were rated on several categories like price, fuel efficiency, comfort, design, styling, safety, performance, technology, value for money, and their sustainability for Indian roads. In the final bid, it was challenged against the Benelli TNT 300 and the Honda CBR650, however, considering the above said criteria’s the Yamaha YZF-R3 was announced as the title winner.

The super sport was launched in India four months ago, priced at Rs. 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to regale the fast growing entry-level performance segment. It is powered by a 321cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine with loads of performance-oriented features.

Accepting the award on behalf of Yamaha, Mr Roy Kurian, VP, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd. said, “We launched Yamaha YZF-R3 in August 2015 and the responses that we have been receiving is indeed most positive and encouraging. We understand the needs of our customers and, therefore, pay great attention to details in our products in terms of styling and design.”
