TVS Apache RTR 300 (Akula)
The TVS Akula which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo is expected to launch in India at the same time the BMW G 310 R launches, because both share the same powertrain and design cues as well. It will debut as TVS Apache RTR 300, developed with the assistance of BMW, will shell out carbon fibre used in the prototype. It will be a flagship model for TVS of this year.
As far engine specifications, the TVS Apache RTR 300 is powered by a 313cc single cylinder fuel injected engine that produces 34bh of power and 28Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It is expected to deliver mileage of around 30Kmpl.
The bike is expected to launch in May or April carrying price tag around Rs. 2 lakh.
Royal Enfield Continental GT 750
In a bid to take on Harley Davidson, Royal Enfield is gearing up for launch of premium bikes and the first to lock horns with the American two-wheeler makers will be Continental GT 750, the flagship model, yet the bigger version of Continental GT. It will retain the design cues and will sport a retro street café racer design.
As far engine specifications, it will be powered by a 750cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled power mill producing 50hp of peak power and around 42Nm of peak torque. The engine will be clubbed with a 6-speed transmission and is expected to deliver fuel economy of 20 – 23 kmpl.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 is expected to launch sometime in Q1 of 2017 and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 3 lakh.
Suzuki Gixxer 250 (GSX 250R)
The sporty super bike Suzuki Gixxer 250 has already launched in Japan and you’ll no longer need to wait for it to arrive in the Indian shores. The flagship performance bike follows the design cues from its sibling GXR-R1000. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 sports a mono halogen headlamp, a tall windscreen, sporty fairing, and a sculpted muscular looking fuel tank. Apart from that, the bike gets clip-on handle bars, completely digital instrument cluster which gives it a premium feel.
As far engine specifications, the power mill is a 284cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin turbo engine powered by Suzuki Eco Performance technology. The power is transferred through a 6-speed gearbox that delivers 25hp of power and 24NM of torque. The fuel efficiency for the bike is rated to around 25-30kmpl.
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is slated for launch in the second half of the year for around 1.5 lakh to 1.8 lakh.
BMW G310 R
The German auto maker, BMW, who is eyeing to make significant presence in Indian shores has a huge lineup of bikes to launch in the coming months. The first one will be the BMW G310 R, for which the company has teamed up with homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor to locally produce the bike.
As far specifications, BMW G310 R will be powered by a 313cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine, producing 34hp of power at 9500 rpm and 28Nm of peak torque to 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, which is expected to return fuel efficiency of around 26kmpl, with top speed of 170kmph.
The bike is expected to launch in mid-2017 with the expected price range of around Rs. 2 lakh.
Suzuki V-Strom 250
With the looks of the Suzuki V-Strom 250, the bike will be launched as an adventurer tourer that would overwhelm the biking freaks. It will be positioned as the entry level adventurer tourer category when it launches in India.
As far specifications, Suzuki V-Strom 250 will get power from a 248cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. The engine is tuned to produce 25hp of power and 23Nm of torque, tweaked to return mileage of around 25-30kmpl.
The launch is expected to happen sometime in 2018 at a price of around Rs. 2 lakh.
BMW G310 GS
Just like the streetfighter BMW G310 R, the BMW G310 GS falls under the adventurer tourer segment, which carries the same engine powering the former with cosmetic enhancement. It is based on the same platform that BMW G310 R shares, and with a GS badge it takes a new dimension.
The powermill is the same 313cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine, producing 34hp of power at 9500 rpm and 28Nm of peak torque to 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, which is expected to return fuel efficiency of around 26kmpl, with top speed of 170kmph.
The bike is expected to launch in mid-2017 with the expected price range of around Rs. 2 lakh – 2.25 lakh.
